Oh Joshua Tree,
Oh Joshua Tree!
I wonder what poems
Were written for thee!
In a time we can’t see
past the end of our nose;
I’m stricken by the hope
Of your expansive sand’s prose.
Oh Joshua Tree,
You’re a picture to me.
Without water you grow
Cactus flowers & seeds.
The creatures that make home
In your beautiful sands,
They thrive in the desert
Without human hands.
In a world that is falling captive
To self-righteous sides,
It’s in the desert I find
That the real truth resides.
Oh Joshua Tree,
My Joshua Tree!
Our rescue is present
In the strong winds of thee.
